A whole-person perspective remains strictly complementary to ophthalmological diagnosis.
What does it mean to use the eye as a gateway?
Whole-person assessment is not an eye examination. Sudden visual change needs urgent review.
The eye is not isolated
Sleep, dryness, medication, screens, inflammation, circulation and general illness can affect visual comfort. Classical Chinese assessment asks about the wider context but does not replace examination of vision or eye structures.
Conventional diagnosis
Reduced vision, pain, flashes, a curtain-like shadow, intense redness or sudden change requires an ophthalmologist or emergency service. Some eye diseases progress without pain, so recommended checks remain essential.
Useful collaboration
Once diagnosis is established, complementary goals might include comfort, fatigue, sleep or daily adaptation. The practitioner should know current treatment and avoid promises of restored vision.
